Hi there, it's me again with another GSD question. I have started training with Rosie and she is responding well. We do the sit, DOwn and heel thing everyday and we are trying to go onto self control when faced with her major distractions namely, people, other dogs and cars (or in other words, the world and everyone in it.)
She loves learning and picks things up veru quickly and wishes to please. She is a right little character actually.

I want to do something really fun and thought she would like to play frisbee. IT would be good exercise and she is a good catch of balls and biscuits and loves to chase and retrieve, though she does have a habbit of playing keep away too. Does anyone know how to teach an older Dog how to catch a frisbee? I have played with her, but she just looks at me and the frisbee and says "nah, you're 'aving a laugh mum!".
Tips and suggestions eagerly awaited.....

Since Rosie has shown an interest in the ball, mimififi, try this: Roll or throw the ball as usual and then on the next throw, launch the frisbee on its edge, rolling it as it were.  This should get her attention and perhaps a light bulb will come on.. sounds like an ideal German Shepherd.  You do know they were (and in some places, still are) called Alsatians... during World Wars I and perhaps, II, things German were viewed unfavorably and many things names were Anglicized...

Hey, thanks guys, I shall try all that. Also, do you have any experience with serving doggie's dinner in the frisbee to teach an interest in chasing it???? Not sure how I feel about this.

Drgnrdr: Cool website, I shall certianly do the things suggested.

Clanad: thanks for that, good idea about the ball and frisbee together. It's pouring with rain today so we went walking, but didn't do much other than walk, but she has an indoor ball so I could play with her indoors with it.
(Also, wanted to say, I didn't mean to get you in to trouble on that other thread about the light; I wasn't being petulent, I was being sincere, and it was obviously misinterpreted by someone who just wanted to be mean. I feel really responsible and I wasn't inferring that you were a plagerist at all. I'm really sorry, and thanks for replying re the frisbee.)
Not to be concerned, mimififi...Thanks! Good luck with Rosie...
