Anybody recommend portable or even electric dog clippers. Just got my dog groomed in March and already he is very hairy - cant afford £30 every two months so I am going to try myself. Thanks in advance.

Hi, my husband grooms our dog himself just using the regular human clippers you can pick up for £5+ from shops like wilkinsons or home bargains. It takes a bit of practice but results are pretty good now. We do have another dog though that we still have to pay to go to a groomers every 3 months because he needs random treatments like having his ears plucked (!) (he's a shih-tzu) - depends what kind of breed you've got.
Argos do proper dog clippers for about £35 I think.
My dog was very long haired, I tried the dog clippers out of argos and they were rubbish, also normal clippers wouldnt go through his thick fur...what dog have you got, they do sell the proper dog clippers on ebay for about £100 I think, sounds a lot but think of all them £30 and add them up!
