Poor kitten

We got a new kitten nearly two weeks ago and my boyfriend also got one from the same litter. Very sadly my boyfriends's had to have his poor little kitten put down today.
On Monday they took him to the vet because he was very lethargic and the vet prescribed anti-biotics stating there was either something wrong with his lungs that he was born with or that he'd got an infection.
They took him back today because he was very floppy and hadn't perked up at all and the vet said the kitten had a condition that meant his organs were growing too quickly and pushing against his ribcage. Basically there was nothing they could do so was kinder to let him go.
My questions are- has anyone heard about this condition before and should we be worried about our kitten?

Best way is to get the other one checked out by a vet as said above.

Yeah think we probably will, she seems in perfect health but is a bit concerning so a quick check over won't hurt. Will suggest to mum to get her up on Monday
