Hi there - good morning of a Sunday morning.

Well I will be getting a new fabric suite in 3-4 weeks and my dog Harvey as a creature of habit goes to the toilet in the yard and then when I pull up venetian blinds jumps onto the arm of the chair and looks out of the window.

I dont want to spoil his good wee time but I am looking out for my suite to keep it protected. Some may suggest throws but I am loathe to use this as they drop down anyway.

Would anybody know of an idea of a kind of a throw that is connected at the top of the chair with velcro and then when dog is finished I could throw it behind the chair. Know anything????

Make one yourself, you can get velcro in strips that are sticky on the back.

But what is all the fuss about velcro anyway, its just a rip off.
as he only seems to do this at that time you do your blinds Why not get like a fluffy childs blanket get them cheap in tescos they wont slip around so much ant they are small enough to hide behind sofa and dont take long to dry when washed over night in airing cupboard put i tiny bit of velcro in three places at back of sofa and hopefully this should solve your prob. if not cant you put dog in the yard when you pull up the venetian blinds then he might break the habbit. they say you cant teach a dog new tricks but i did with my with my dog every month. or tell him off for even jumping up there. good luck. and by the way dogs understand a lot more than you realise......
lankeela, you are very dry! That made me smile ;)

homerbart, you could well train him out of it, as tiara says. I think this wouldn't be difficult, but in the meantime some handcrafting would work wonders :)

thanks for your answers - you are right - I will maybe train him off the armchair at the window but he does like to cuddle up to me so maybe start to allow him up on sofa beside me.

He used to sit on all furniture but I got trained him off one chair - I figured it was one less to hoover.

Will start to train him now on the old suite as I have 2-3 weeks to go. bye for now
