anybody know why my friends 2 king charles spaniels eat mud, and can it harm them

Might make them a bit heavier in weight! My mate has a yr old Canario Pressa and he eats anything stones, mud, underwear, shoes cat poo! yuck and it hasnt harmed him yet

I don't know what makes them do it but I do know it can evenually be harmful. My ex had a dog which oneday ate sand on the beach. She seemed fine at first and then it began making her very ill and even with specialist veterinary treatment, she eventually had to be put to sleep.
