There are Blackbirds nesting in a tree opp our back garden and they sing all day, to be woken by their sweet song is a pleasure & at dusk too it is so clear & sweet. I'm not sure who does the singing him or her.

Made me wonder what bird has the sweetest song, anyone know?

Nightingales takes some beating, we have them around our house and a week ago they were at their best. The variety in their song is astonishing, it is as if they are continually trying to come up with something new.

Never seen or heard a Nightingale Jom. So I Googled it and as you say that truly would be hard to beat. Beautiful with a capital B.

I don't know what birds we have round here. Loads as we have a park at each end of our street and playing fields opposite. They were making a racket at 4am this morning...
Have a male blackbird which perches on my chimney giving it laldy. Beautiful to hear.
We have willow warblers which have a striking song, the song thrush is a good act but the nightingale must be best and prompted John Keats to write one of the finest poems in the English language.
Nightingale is accepted to be the most stunning but it's blackbirds, robins and skylarks that lift my spirits.
I get woken every morning with the birds singing, I must admit I would like a volume control for them sometimes :)
We have a male blackbird who sits and sings his heart out on the gable end of the roof after feasting on grapes, raisins, mealworms and sunflower hearts off our bird table. We say its his way of saying Thanks for the great meal! We laugh as he sits and whistles for ages if we copy him in reply, he even cocks his head on one side and waits for us to whistle .......:)
It's the male blackbird that sings, it's warning other blackbirds to keep off his patch. It's a glorious song.
We have some collared doves nesting quite near, sometimes their constant coo coo gets on my nerves, another time it's quite soothing. The blackbird we have this year is really good at singing we even have an occasional wolf whistles. I really enjoy it's singing at sundown when it's quiet.
I used to walk Max early in the morning on a reclaimed pit tip which was the home to all sorts of wild birds, it was great 05.00 in the morning nobody about but me ,Max, and the dawn chorus. The best part of the day.
It must have been a Blackbird that was singing just about an hour ago. Nice and loud it sounded in the quiet of the evening.
