Fuel Gauge not moving

The fuel gauge on my Seat Ibiza has stayed on full since I filled the car up 4 days ago. It should have moved since then considering how many miles I've done. When I filled up, I had to stretch the petrol filling nottle over my car to reach the tank and it kept clicking while I was filling up. I was wondering if I've maybe damaged the sensor or something and if I have is it going to be a costly repair job? Any explanations or help will be greatly appreciated before I take it to the garage and probably get ripped off cos I'm a girl!!

Does sound like a sensor problem, unless you know someone technical enough to remove the sensor unit from the tank and see if there is anything you can do, then its garage time.

At a garage if it is the tank unit the labour should not be too much as it does not take long to get to check it. If its something else like the gauge on the on the dash has gone, that can be expensive.

mdoo98, you are absolutely right. I rang the garage and they said more or less exactly the same as you and guess what, it did eventually go down after i'd done some more miles. Phew - quite a relief. I'll make sure I don't fill it so much again!!

Thanx very much to both for replying.
