The speedo on my 1.8LX mondeo suddenly stopped working a week ago - remained at zero. The needle on fuel gauge also became faulty. It was moving towards empty when going around corners and fuel low light and buzzer would come on briefly before needle returned to it's normal quarter full position. Took car to garage and asked about fault. When I picked the car up they said the fault did not show up and speedo was working fine - it was then ok for a couple of days. The clock has now died again. The rev counter and temp gauge work fine. Is this a common fault? Is it likely to be the ECM, drive sensor, speedo clock or wiring? I have had odd very intermittent things happen with electrical items since I got the car - all electric windows suddenly opening or not working intermittently, central locking not working on front passenger door etc. All faults are worse in damp or wet weather - it's been raining a lot over the last week - could this possibly be an alternator fault? Can anyone help?
