Who Bob ?
Question Author
doc - you are not wrong

Look at the top ten for any week in the sixties and people will remember most of the songs.

Would that happen now ? I dont think so
Brilliant link Doc - I am a little younger than you but I really enjoyed the 60s. I was into Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin etc and have retained that love of rock music. However (sacrilege to some, I know) I didn't like the Beatles much - preferred the Stones.
Question Author
eremitus quite right, I remember them all, how old r u ? I am 62.
Question Author
Hi bensmum, I liked them both. Both great loved the stones loved the beatles.

Watch this in a minute.
A little younger but had a plastic beatles guitar when I was 12 - Wish I still had it now heard one went for a lot of money recently. If I was truthful I also preferred the Stones.

your old doc lol you was 26 when i was born haha
Hey Doc,i love 60`s music although wasnt born until 64.I especially like the Liverpool groups. My sisters are quite a bit older than me so i got a lot of singles passed down. I like a lot of ballady type songs cos im just an old softy.
Yes you are right! Musically speaking the songs of the 60s were very strong melodically and introduced interesting chords beyond the pop- 3 chord trick of 50s rock and roll. I teach music and singing, and whenever there is a good song out- regardless of era, my pupils always ask to sing it. I have noticed a real lack of good pop songs in the last 10 years. The only songs they ask to sing are the occasional ballads by Rihanna or somesuch. Or someone will cover a song from the 60s and they ask for that- without realising it is a cover! They learn most songs off adverts.
I also think it is a real shame that there are no prgrammes like TOTP anymore. Not only could I not tell you what is in the top 10 now, the kids I teach can't either. They all prefer to sing songs from musicals and Disney. High School Musical, Hairspray, Wicked... Pop is dying.
