More xenophobia - will it never end ?
Is it not 1400 rather than 14000?
///A crewless ship with at least 400 migrants on board has lost power and is drifting off the coast of Italy in rough seas days after a separate ship carrying 1,000 migrants was rescued.///
European authorities have just issued a communiqué stating that a couple of dozen of the unfortunates are to be bussed to the home of one Canary42 in Airy Fairy Land to see how everyone copes.
If it's a success then all future hordes will be distributed among the vocal caring to allow their inclusivity to heal the world.
//More xenophobia//

No it is not, when will you right-on people get the idea that people are sick of this?
Italy dont tow them back because they know that the migrants won't be staying in Africa, instead they will head to France with the ultimate aim of the UK where the likes of Canary will shower them with benefits and houses and cars.

So it will be Frances problem initially followed by ours.
//More xenophobia - will it never end ? //

I take it then, you'll be first in the queue to offer your own house when volunteers are sought to find accommodation for these people?
No mushroom, it is always do as I say not as I do with that sort coupled with NIMBY of course.

So I mistakenly put an extra zero on the end, big deal, but anyone who notices the comma would immediately understand the figure to be one thousand, four hundred.

And thus the Canary flies away.
I suppose, to be fair, it's not often a number starts with an exclamation mark

I am assured that both France and the Netherlands are the experts in sea-going tugs. I'm sure they would be willing to tow the ships back to Africa.
North Africa is a big place. Is there any particular country there that will welcome them?

So we can track boats but can't track aeroplanes

The number of immigrants to each of Italy,Germany and France is many times the number that get to the UK. Contrary to public opinion only a small % actually try to get to the UK , the huge majority just want to get to Europe. Also at least 90% come to work not to claim benefits and wages are higher in Italy, Germany and France so they go there.
We have the Channel as a barrier so we can see those trying to get over. Other EU states have no natural barrier so the immigrants are 'invisible' once they get to land.
The last 3 days are not unusual, far more get in undetected every day via the Med from North Africa. It is estimated only 1 in 10 at most is detected.

The number of immigrants to each of Italy,Germany and France is many times the number that get to the UK.

They can accommodate them, since they are much larger countries than the UK.

France land area, 547,030 sq km, Germany 357,021 sq km, Italy 301,230 sq km, Great Britain & Northern Ireland 244,820 sq km

/// Contrary to public opinion only a small % actually try to get to the UK , the huge majority just want to get to Europe. ///

And why do you think they want to get to Europe? Because it is the stepping stone to the UK (the land of milk and honey).

/// Also at least 90% come to work not to claim benefits and wages are higher in Italy, Germany and France so they go there. ///

Then if that is true why do so many sleep rough in Calais and then take great risks in crossing the Channel?

/// We have the Channel as a barrier so we can see those trying to get over. Other EU states have no natural barrier so the immigrants are 'invisible' once they get to land. ///

Apparently not because many manage to get here. And how many do you think are invisible when they get here, even our Government don't know?

If they are invisible then they won't be claiming benefits or housing.

Many have settled in other European countries so you can't say they are getting to Europe just to get to the UK.
