watched a few bits of it last night - but of the life of me canna understand it - how £2,000 is represented in a gold bar and Rolexes watches. What does happen - are these sold for money etc. puzzlement puzzlement.

I didn't see it, is it easier to launder in solid items rather than cash in readies?
Usually, at a low level, it's easier to launder through objects. If you have an embarrassing amount of cash, your easiest course is to have someone buy good quality diamonds etc, objects which hold their value and can be deposited in some anonymous safe deposit.

On the grand scale, you use a complicated arrangement of bank accounts, foreign exchange dealers, and off shore facilities, so the money can't be traced back to you.
