When a ABer is happy to divulge information about themselves and family circumstances and they are reminded of such posts in future threads can a extra rule be inserted that the original poster has no comeback if that reminder may cause embarassment due to a new thread where their past is bought back to them. i.e. If I disclose on a public forum that my son has joined the armed forces then I cannot press the report button and complain if another ABer broaches the subject at a later date and I complain of a personal attack.Boy does it happen and it isn't funny because the information that is freely given comes back to bite them and the Aber gets a suspension It is not personal. It refers back to an original thread.

JTH // that he will be making reference to previously disclosed information and that he expects to receive no censure for doing so..// This is a public forum. The information is given by the poster freely, and it is up to them to decide if they want to share it with the world. If you write personal information or feelings on a public website then you have to expect...

Simple enough question, Anneasquith.
You informed 'us' of your cat dying Aunt Lydia.. If we then used this information against you in a cat topic, would you be fine with that?
This poster has a particular bete-noir on the site and has, historically, enjoyed dragging extraneous details posted by that person into his arguments previously.

Information given in response to a question in one of the more sensible areas of AB should not be brought into a petty spat elsewhere simply to 'stick-it-to' someone you dislike.
How could you use the fact of someone’s cat dying, against them? Getting a bit surreal now.
spath it was used, and not very nicely as I recall.
My cat did not die she was killed, and I chose to reveal this info as part of a question. Should someone bring this back up in a spiteful way, then I would ignore them. It may make me feel a bit sad as I still miss my cat, but I would not moan about the right of someone to refer back to this, however spiteful and childish it may be.
"then I would ignore them."

But you didn't.... do you not see the resemblance between the op and your situation?
If i remember correctly, there was a brief, but slightly heated confrontation due to one user mocking this fact
I am at a loss to understand the reasons for some ABers using photographs of themselves as Avatars.

From AB Site Rules......" Do not post any personal information belonging to you or others including full name, address or phone number as it can easily be misused by others. We strongly advise you against posting links to personal photographs."

Hans.
It's OK my avatar is pre-make-up
spath, sorry but I don't know where you are going with this other than aggravation and I'm not playing.
... well I wasn't going to mention it Spath... against Site Rules.
Hans, unless you know the poster personally you have no idea if the avatar is a photo of them.
AL.. have a re-read of your comment to JTH at 09:53.

Then think about what just happened. That is all.. no aggravation intended. But you see how users could be aggravate by resurfaced info?

Ark.. Shhhh ;) I thought the black and grey filter would hide my wrinkles
almost, I hardly recognised you.
'Smooth' ;)
Indeed!
sorry, Hans, curls as golden as mine just have to be shared with the world.
I've worked it out now. Thanks for the hints. :-)

I wonder why this post hasn't been removed, under the same rule.

What rule is that, AOG?
