I am thinking of buying my Grandson a Dash Cam for Christmas.

I know nothing about them and wonder if anyone here can advise on what to look for.I am definitely not looking to spend mega bucks on one but as he is on the road a lot for work I thought it might be something he'd be interested.
in.

Putting it here is its ok as it seems to get the most footfall...or should that be finger fall ?

Many thanks x

I've had one of these for nearly two yars now and I like it. It has been replaced by a more up-to-date model.

You really want full HD to give you the best chance to read number plates. The GPS makes it fun (only about £5 more) as you can follow your journey on Google Earth. A 32GB SDHC card will give you 5 to 6 hours of recording - you can set mine to overwite after that, so that you always have the last 5 hours saved. It's small enough to leave in the car without it being obvious (hence stealable) from the outside and easy to wire in so that it works automatically when the engine is running.
