I got the train up to ponky London at lunch time, and met a pal for a curry.

It was a bit hotter than I expected.

A lot, in fact.

the mate or the curry
My OH said I don't have to cook tonight, now that was really unexpected.
the curry or London don't you mean? besides ponky, what on earth is that..
I didn't know that the sun was that warm in London today.....

"she!"

The curry. One of those "may regret it later" ones?

But ooh, hey ... amazing dessert ... cardamon and coriander cake !!

I'd love the recipe for that.

(then I'd give it to a friend who can bake, and get her to make me one)
it was warmish, not a patch on this time last year.

Traci ... RESULT !!

So what are you getting?

em ... ponky ... you know ... it smells.

DT ... it was lovely in Victoria. Really sunny.
Dad grabbed me a curry to have for dinner, that was unexpected.

He didn't forget the naan bread this time, that was more unexpected.

I managed to avoid chomping on the cardamom pod that was in the rice and therefore didn't ruin the entire meal. That was really unexpected.
I'm London bound tomorrow. Wondering where I'll end up eating, there's a really good Chinese close to where I'm heading or will I head into more exciting locations in search of sustenance??
Trying to decide between Indian or Chinese.
Ever tried the Tamarind, close to the Saudi Embassy and not far from Bond Street. Delish Indian food......some of the best in the Land.....

Actually, DT ... yes. Just round the corner from Berkeley Square, yes?

Love it there.

Eccles ... we went to the Cinnamon Club. Really nice, not too expensive (although a King Cobra beer was £15!!!). Depends where you're near, I suppose.

Evian ... that was a result!
Tamarind is THE best Indian restaurant in central London and Alfred is the most lovely, huggable, humble chef - an absolute genius.
Eccles, From some one who has lived in HK and China, one of our favs wass the Poons in Leicester St right behind the Swiss Centre, north side of the Square and right across from the Car Park there.

It has rebranded as it has gone into the next generation but still the family - really good Cantonese food, specialising in wind-dried duck. Last time I was there about 2 years ago, it was £13 inc plenty of Tsing Dao beer and tea - and a good pig out...... it is not related to the Poons in Covent Garden or the one 50 yards away on Newport St
My fav Indian that I have eaten i, in the UK.....
I'll make a note about the 'real' Poons.

I'm really not sure where we will end up, I'm drooling at the memory of the tilapia stuffed with green papaya and chilli that Alfred Prasad cooked for me. It was so fresh and vibrant, I have the recipe but haven't recreated it. I LOVE Tamarind, I might even see if I can get a table.....
At the other end of the scale, Bush House in The Aldwych had a canteen serving the hottest and cheapest curry you could buy. As a student at L.S.E., where the refectory was expensive and very average I found it very handy. Alas Bush House isn't what it was.

last message has the new name, Eccles......and an "encouraging" review
My dad used to work at Bush House in his BBC days.
