Onwards and Downwards Continues in May

Hi Everyone,

Well it looks like we may actually have some nice weather soon after about a month of rain. Will many of you now be able to get out and about more and hopefully get a bit more exercise?

I always admire folk who can find the enthusiasm for exercise.
Its been so cold and wet I haven't been outside for days. Car, work, car, home, car shops, car cinema, car work etc.

But Ed, you have inspired my new month's resolution - to go out whatever the weather. Otherwise I'll never really lose anymore than a couple of pounds. I'll let you all know how I get on.
My eating is this horrible weather has gone done the pan. I have not got the will power but I have not been indulging really bad just enough to make me gain a bit probably. I am still struggling with this stone up and down up and down.
Maybe I ought to start my own thread but .... anyone any recommendations for a good set of 'bathroom' scales ?

If they worked well I'd like the ones I have as they are digital and precise, but since they are getting worse and worse regarding consistent readings, their accuracy is shot. (I even checked this morning whether it was the carpet underneath causing the problem by taking them to the only room in the house with a hard floor (the kitchen) and trying them there. Once again a variety of readings, and markedly different either side on my morning shower.)

The thing is that whenever I see a set that seem OK I read the reviews and they often seem to be inconsistent. Well I already have a set like that. (I've even seen 5 star reviews casually saying the item they're reviewing has the problem !)
Gosh OG we thought that you would NEVER ask. I have Tefal EVOLIS and find them just fine and EASY to read....digital.
I'll look them up, thanks.
(Problem is they got much worse over the last few days.)
Good Morning All, I've stayed just the same which I am thankful for having lost all of my will power at a Chinese Buffet last week. We are going to the same place on Friday and I am trying to brainwash myself already into ignoring the bad bits.

Good Morning Xstitcher think we only ones so far. I have gained 1lb. I just can't get down to it in this horrible weather but I am not going overboard with cakes and things. I know I can do it .Good for you to stay the same you are like me you know what to do it is just sticking at it. Hope we can do a loss for next week.

I got the scales to be consistent on the hard kitchen for today, but I can't say I believe them. i thought if carpeting caused problems it was that it reading to high not too low.

It claims I've gone up 3?bs which simply don't believe. It wasn't a good week, but I wasn't emulating Billy Bunter. All very off putting.

BTW the Tefal Evolis seems difficult to find reviews on. Does it only show kgs ? It's difficult to get such an admission from the ads. Thanks.

Yes the Tefal scales are kilo scales...I didn't think of that. You should always have scales on a hard surface...carpets....no good.....
I'm joining you this week xstitcher as stayed the same which I am disappointed about but it's better than gaining. Actually didn't feel like eating much this week so a couple of days only had cereal so probably didn't get the metabolism going. Back to lots of fruit and veg this week so onwards and downwards. Will check what my scales are and let you know OG as they do kgs or lbs and are extremely reliable.
Hi Jan don't worry you have done well and you know what you are doing. I need a kick up the butt to get me back on track but with a weather improvement I shall get back on track well that is my excuse.
OG I am so glad you are considering putting those scals to the knackers yard my brain could not cope lol.
Well I started going to Slimming World about a month ago so far have lost 4 pounds but put one on this week - not really bothered about that. I dont follow the diet at all as it does not cater for my lifestyle - I do not cook at all. Just go to get weighed - I have told them to not tell me what I weigh as that would just depress me
If I lose a pound a week over a year that should be ok for me I think
OG - mine are EKS glass bathroom scales (the ones shown on the Homebase website at £17.49) I don`t know how people on the internet have reviewed them but I`m perfectly happy with them.
Hi Ric.or you don't need to go on a diet to lose weight .Since I have been on here with Xstitcher who started this 2 years ago I have lost 2 stone . I need another stone now to gaol. It was done by cutting out the fat and the crap eating plenty of fish and chicken and veg meals. I have gained stayed the same but not put back on what I have achieved. It is fatal not to weigh each week because if you know you have gained you can try and rectify it for the following week. If you don't cook you will just have to watch what meals you do have, So why go and get weighed if you don't want to know if you have gained or not as it is not giving you the chance to rectify it. Just making my comment on your reply. Good Luck
Have been way off beam for the past few weeks as I have just been so busy and the WW class I went to closed. Another one suits to guess I'll be back next Tues. Had a sneaky peek today and think I'm up about 4 lbs!!
OG, can't get my head round exercise either, but guess digging the garden and mowing the lawns does help.
