What is the point

I just wonder. What is the point of underwear. I know some peeps that go commando completely and never have a prob. I would like answers please on everything top to bottom on male and female

Embroidered Red Lapel Button Hole

Anyone know if a specific clothes label sports the above. I keep seeing it on blokes jackets/coats etc. I have googled but can find no reference to it.
