Young man at the door earlier, asking if we had received a leaflet regarding a certain media outlet.

He kept calling me Honey. "Hi honey, did you get one of these leaflets?"
Me: No.
Him: well honey
And so on and so forth

At that point my ears closed. Who and/or what is teaching sales peeps these days??

lol red

My older son suggested I should have called him "marmite" :)
I hate all of these terms, 'love', sweetheart', etc. Especially when I don't know the person from Adam. In some circumstances I will tolerate it but when it comes from a complete stranger on my doorstep trying to flog me stuff I already have I just want to scream.

.....and breathe......
He probably thought he was charming haha

When I go to my local butcher's, a certain young man who serves me calls me "madam", we do have a good giggle and I get a discount.

I did ask him once to stop calling me "madman"

The door-step ones really get on my nipples tho

Oooh and there was no "sorry for interrupting you" or "do you have a minute honey" nonsense

I feel better for my slight rant.

Thanks guys xx
Least you get a discount alba haha
Question Author
that's true suezy

Every little helps these days.

Oh don't go there alba :)
I answered the door late at night to find a young boy maybe 15 at the door in complete darkness scared me to death, he stepped forward to say

"good evening madam, can I interest you with fish with a difference"

I never buy anything on the door, so said no sorry but thank you and shut the door sharpish. The poor young guy had his hugely build fishman father in the background watching everything, like some stalker hiding in the shadows.

I felt bad afterwards in case the nice kid got a kicking for not selling anything, tis not his fault in these financial times, anyway I hate smelly fish :(
Sorry if i shouldn't of called you "alba"

suezy, I get alba, albs and a few other names too lol

what-the, I hate it late at night, 7pm onwards is a no-no unless it's my sons's mates who are well-trained.

I hope TTFN aint about.
I have had maybe half a dozen door sellters in my entire time living away from my parents home - that's four homes over twenty-eight years - guess I'm just lucky.
Question Author
oh Mr H, you're going to get a lot of AB'ers wanting to lodge with you :) xx
Well don't let sara 3 know - there will be bother ... !
Question Author
<< skulks back under the door. Am not messing with Sara, I like her :)
A few years back I answered the door to my one and only doorstep caller.

He was trying to sell me a peep hole for my door - he would even install it for me.

I told him that I didn't need it and that I had adequate security.

He pushed the door in and became quite unpleasant. However the deep growl from behind the door seemed to stop him in his tracks.

Much as I love my cats they don't have the same ability to scare people off.
