Unused Bank Account

If I leave my old account open, whilst using my new account with my new bank. Does the old bank run at a loss on this?? Is it detrimental to my credit rating??

Which is the best way to save money?

Say i have a lump sum of ?3000. Can anyone reccomend the best way to save it. For example through a high interest ISA? Any other high interest ways, without risk of losing the money?
