hd dvds or blu ray?

x box 360 has hd dvd and ps3 has blu ray , are these able to play the same dvd`s ie compatible or is it going to be a duel as the betamax was with vcr years ago , if so which is the best option?

i bought a sony bravia hdtv recently and was wanting to know is it connected through the hdmi connection for the best in hd gaming and if so does the ps3 come with the connector, any other info would...
