Loading a programme onto a portable hard drive

Because my hard drive is very full, I would like to load any further programmes onto my portable hard drive.Can someone please instruct me how I can do this? My very grateful thanks for any help.

laptop problem

have a packard bell laptop and it just wont turn on properly. Bloke said it flickered a bit other day and then turned off. Power button lights up but nothing on screen :-(
