what do you mean by breaking of bore of car ,what are causes,and how serious it is

i purchase a HYUNDAI i-10 1and half year back.on 29 nov 2011 i came to know by authorized service centerthat bore of the engine is CUT .the ENGINE is in warranty .i want to know how serious is this...
