Sausage Dilemma!

I have recently bought a quite good microwave / convector oven grill combi thingy. I love my sausages and not having owned an oven or grill for years
I was looking forward to cooking them. I followed the instructions & per-heated the oven to 190c, and put them in oven proof dish & stood back for 25 mins.
Now I like my sausage & bacon cremated so as they can only be identified by their dental records, so I was disappointed to see that although the sausages had reduced in mass dramatically, still didn't appear brown enough for my tastes. I gave them another 5 mins and then rescued them. The first clue I had done something wrong happened when I nearly broke the fork trying to pierce one of my sausages. Bizarrely they don't even appear cooked enough for my palette on the outside, the inside is hard as rock!!
I tried again using the grill this time & the same thing happened. What am
I doing wrong??? I love my sausage well done but usually the inside isn't like concrete.
Many many thanks.

I just dry-fry my sausages - I too had what you had but never used convector oven grill - they wouldn't please me. Also I cracked the glass plate when I once used the convector oven as obviously temperature was too high. I love my microwave but truly just use it for heating up, scrambled eggs are good microwaved but that would be it. Good luck.

were the sausages frozen to begin with?

That would be what they call a clanger of a banger....

Just to be clear, are you saying you Microwaved them for a total of 30 minutes?
It sure sounds like you microwaved them.

No, it was the oven. You can't mix them up. They were on a metal rack. This happened with both frozen & fresh sausages.
Have you been successful when cooking other things in the oven?

I agree with the others it really does sounds like you nuked them into oblivion.
I agree, just do them as you normally would..in the oven or under the grill. I've not had much luck with sausages lately, the skins have been really tough and nasty, even premium extra special ones. I'm only going to buy my local butchers ones in future, at least they're consistent and delicious.
