the lead flashing that used to seal up where the dilapidated lean to was joined to the rear of the house... a big section just fell out of the wall.

- is it dangerous to my health, being lead?
- would anyone pay me for it?
- there is still loads more up there, could I reasonably expect someone to remove it for me, for free, and take the lead for weighing in?

we are all barred from the garden until I resolve!

No danger, unless handled excessively without washing afterwards, then only very minimal.

Yes, try to get some money for it as scrap, or at least to pay for the removal/remedial work for the rest.

No need to off-limit the garden, it's not like asbestos.
Do not sell it / give it away Man, you will need this to repair, the flashing has come away to the weight of it, it is help in place by the mortar, the mortar need to be cleaned out & replaced.
It's not dangerous unless it falls on your head!
Don't get rid of the lead, Mandi. You'll only have to but more to replace it.
It can easily be flattened out and put back where it should be.

Mortar joints shouldn't be relied on to hold it in place. It should be secured with lead wedges, then pointed in to finish.
