funny you should ask - memory dims after seventy years ....

o it is a quith and not history - sorry about that

there are other sites for the sounds of alarms and the names are given there
They started off with whistles ( called 'a whistle' ) and went onto a hand crank and then the one you are after - I thought it was Tunney or something but didnt really concentrate .... it is out there somewhere on the internet ( along with cute nuclear warnings too )

I wondered why someone was interested in the sounds of air raid sirens during the war ( answer: they were nt, the question was about something else ) - cloverfield they get the sounds right by the way.
