I have just tried to load pictures from my Nikon D3100 on to my laptop which is running the recent Windows 10 download. I keep getting an error message saying it cannot find any files, yet I have just uploaded them from the camera to my wife's laptop which is running on Windows 8. Mu camera is listed as a device on my laptop so I am scratching my head here. Any advice appreciated

So the USB cable is proven to be undamaged but maybe the Win10 upgrade has damaged the driver files.

Suggestion 1 is to repeat the steps required as if it was a brand new camera. Was there an installation CD? Maybe still in the box?

Suggestion 2 (quicker)
Camera off; remove the memory card and stick it in the laptop's SD card slot.

Cool. This would be my first Best Answer in this section. There's usually only a 3 minute window before someone dives in! :)
