HI there I have a total of 4 things with Brighthouse and I will be finished paying in 36 weeks. Thank God. I cant afford one of the items so I am taking one of them back on Monday. It is a tablet 12 inch and I have so far paid £684 and I still have 53 weeks to pay at a total of £719 the grand total if I had kept it and paid for it would have been £1404 it is outrageous. Yes it was my fault for just signing and not reading the documents. But really there should be some regulation. What do people think?

We bought our first TV in 1956. It cost £80, roughly 2 months' wages for my father. Of course it was paid for on the never never.
I was born into a world of colour TVs :-)
I bet that was a surprise for the staff in the showroom!
:D
lol mamya
Very good, Mamy :-)
Couldn't resist,sorry.
I have had products from Brighthouse before. I agree that they do charge an extortionate rate, but in other ways they are good. If I haven't paid by 3 o'clock-ish on the due date, they have given me a phone call as a reminder to pay to stop a charge going onto the account. I know what I am getting myself into when I read the terms and conditions, so I know what I have to pay back, and I'm pretty sure that they are regulated. No need to take out insurance if you have your own, so you can cut out a proportion of the costs. Best to put money aside and buy outright. I haggled in curry's a while ago for a good discount. Having cash in my pocket and wanting a washing machine, fridge and TV I got a good deal.
just use the reverse loan system, save a fortune: How much can you afford each week? save it until you have the money to buy what you need, probably get it half the price compared to these loan sharks anyway.
I've just checked and the goods are not on HP so it is not illegal to sell them as soon as you have them in your possession.
Oh. It is HP so it is illegal, still occurs though
That Robinson bloke who left enough money for a college at Oxford or Cambridge made his money from all the 'shillings' people stuck in their telly's. (I think)(before people call me a liar)
A bit like Mr Colman, who made all his money from the mustard that people left on the side of their plates.
You're right, Svejk, radio and television rentals made Sir David Robinson a fortune and he founded Robinson College with a £18m donation in 1968.

Ecclescake they will take it back according to their website

And the asterisk indicates "terms and conditions apply".
Do you know what they may be?
Yes they will, but that is an option available to the customer to reduce his debt, not repossession as the term is commonly understood.
