We've seen statues and pyramids but they're described as nothing more than unusual rock formations. How's this going to be explained away?

According to the commentary the figure is no more than 10cm high

The rarefied atmosphere might explain the small stature of the Martians.
We don't have to worry about an invasion then - it'll soon be stamped out :D

logically thin atmosphere would make people taller and thinner? or do I mean lower gravity?

If, as I suspect, the atmosphere there is only about a metre deep tallness would be an evolutionary disadvantage.

If only the photo was in colour. A little green woman would put the question of life on Mars beyond peradventure.
Looks more like a dust plume to me. Possibly dust from a rock fall?
