I know that the prep work ( respray ) is labourious, B00
What happened then !.

But the more effort you put into to it to get the surface right the better the finished result.
I'm sure you won't have to much trouble sourcing a new ( or recon ) engine for it.

We've researched tony- a Subaru (sp?) engine can be put in, but it's eye wateringly expensive to do, so hence the saving up bit.

And noooo Jno, you're far more knackered than our campervan ;-)
Ohhhh, gonna turn it into a hot rod then, B00 ;-)
Have you looked into doing the recon your self BOO? If you take the unit out Weir St in Blackburn do a really good job, have you thought about it?
Question Author
As enthusiastic as we are to do most of the work ourselves, and intend cobbling most of it, I think fitting a subaru engine is a bit beyond us TWR ;-)
Thinking of ways to save you money, do you know of anyone with a Ramp / Pit that could take it out? you could then take it yourself to B/Burn, if the unit is complete, they will strip re bore / replace it all ready for your Mechanic to refit, that way you will have the Original unit & know it's condition.
