I tip the girl that washes my hair a couple of pounds in her hand as she is an apprentice and they are glad of the money. I don't tip the girl who does my hair as she is the owner. They have a tip jar by the till which I put any change in if I've paid with cash.
I usually tip a couple of pounds when I pay, or round up the total if I've got notes, e.g. from £22 to £25 for example.

Thank Retrochic. That sounds sensible, its a senior stylist doing mine so hopefully an apprentice will shampoo and I can do the same as you.

Thank you too SpareEd.
I dry cut which is £9,takes 10 mins. so I just round it of to a tenner

Good grief! I'd be looking for a hair transplant for that. :-)
22 quid is super cheap!
£1 to the girl who washes my hair and £1 to the stylist.
Omg now I know why I don't go to hairdressers is that not expensive
Tipping protocol? Your hair cost pays staff wages. But a bar of Cadbury nut choc always welcome ;)
