OH's sister is a fanatical family tree chaser. She has just compiled her second book following fathers line. She has just come over from Canada and traced yet another cousin who she went to visit. But these are not just cousins some are many times removed. In her book she refers to her seventh cousin twice removed! How do you work that out?
Very confusing, Caran, imho, but if you Google Encyclopedia Of Genealogy, it will be explained on there. You may have to read it through several times, though, to fully understand it.
There are graphs/tables/diagrams that will show you. It's down to the nearest common ancestor and how many generations the two considered individuals are apart.
