Hi...why are some people soo ungrateful. They post a question...... we spend our time trying to answer it the they never say thanks. Make me wonder why we bother sometimes :(

Plus, some people don't know how to 'rate' answers with the star system, and some people just don;t think.

Don't let it upset you.

Kevb0444, Do you mean by way of rating your answers or by words?

Ps, i think it would be nice if some people just answered the question instead of using this site to chat/flirt?

Hi..well both would be nice ;) It doesn't hurt just to say thanks does it? I'm really talking about the people who ask things like...."who wrote this?" not the..."what do you think about this?" questions

Ps..thanks for the answers so far

Don't forget the different time zones, and internet access that would vary between users.
I know what you mean. I like to search for songs that people are finding and it more annoys me that they dont let me know if thats the one they've been trying to find.

I think it's polite to say "Thank you" for answers - 'specially when you've bothered to do a bit of research for that person too.

I either post a thank you as I go along, or say "Thank You to all" when I've rec'd sufficient answers.

I asked for suggestions for a family visit to London last autumn but the question disappeared from the "latest 20" very quickly so didn't think people would be checking on it to see if I would respond to their suggestions. Anyway, belated thanks to all for great suggestions.
Oh, i like to think i say thanx or rate answers, its just the polite thing to do, isn't it?i know its not worth getting worked up over but it does irritate me too!!
I have also wondered about this, as I have posted a few questions myelf, and also some answers. I always appreciate the time and effort people have gone to, and I am not sure if it is the done thing to post an answer in your own question section to say Thanks. ? But to anyone and everyone who reads this, I am thankful for all the questions you have supplied. Thanks for question kev!

Thanks for your answer Susan..and everyone else so far.

When I was a young lad I remember complaining to my dad about how some people never said thank you if I held a door open for them, in turn he simply asked me if I was holding the door open out of courtesy or to hear people say thnak you.

It is nice to be thanked but overall not a big deal if they don't imho :-)

For me I just get a buzz out of helping other people. If I do a bit of research it's because it's fired something in me and I want to know the answer as much as the person asking. So for me it doesn't matter if they thank me or rate my answer, I just enjoy my enquiring mind. A thank you or a rating is just a nice bonus.
thanks kev for reminding me, i am always so busy running down every topic that i forgot. anyway, i have just given everyone 3 stars. i will try in future not to forget.
I like to thank or rate members. If someone opened a door for me I would thank them,if I asked someone the time I would thank them so why not do likewise on here? Its all down to good manners I'd say:-)
I think that in the last week or so this site has turned into an adult chatroom!!
Whats this rating thing i don't know about it? Do you only rate answers to questions that you have posted? And how?
Go back to your posts Glittery and when you read the replies you will see a 'Rate this answer' box next to the 'Report this answer'
OOPS, forgot to add you will only be given the option to rate the answer if you posted the question :-)

Hi again...thanks for the answers. It just bums me out sometimes...like this one dude who wanted some info on a song.....took me ages to find it for him. Had to do some real hard digging to find what he wanted and......nothing. I don't answer questions for any praise. I do it coz i like to...but when some one can clearly tell just how much work you put in for what they wanted and doesn't say thanks!! Grrr ; )
I think some people get so used to using stuff like Google and Yahoo etc... with automated answers, that they just don't consider that somebody here actually took time to give them an answer. Also it does seem that many people now consider that anything ''on-line'' is not real so it does not matter what they do.
Pity really because it is the small things like courtesy which oil the ''gears'' of civilized life and keep societies in good working order. The general lack of such things today might indicate that society is going down the pan faster and faster.
