Blocked holes in the toilet.
A friend is desperate, she has tried scrubbing, I suggested limescale remover but she had already tried that. Is the only answer a new loo?

Tony, I'm not using it, our loo is just over a year old. The one she has is c.27 years old, a taupe suite so I'm sure she couldn't replace it in the same colour
Before we started talking about caustic soda, I was going to suggest, Viakal limescale removal spray.
I know it's not your loo, Psybbo ( you said it was your freinds loo ). If she doesn't want to change the suite she will have to persevere with unclogging the inlet holes.
Probably is due to hard water though.
What's stopping you putting the Soda into the Systen Is it the low Level Type? If so, take the lid off & put into the system & keep Flushing.
If she decides that she wants to change the loo then she maybe in luck, there are quite a few places ( like this ) that specialise in discontinued bathroom suites.

Thanks TWR, I take it it won't damage the parts in the cistern?
The Items within are, or should be plastic, I can see any problem occurring, I very often take the top of the System off & put in very strong Bleach
Can't see any problem.

I'd like to give you all BA's, I'm very grateful for all replies xx
If these holes are blocked by limescale deposits (assuming a hard-water area), caustic soda (or washing soda) or anything else that is strongly alkaline will do NOTHING to remove them. You need a strong acid to dissolve such deposits...a good "limescale removing" toilet cleaner containing hydrochloric acid will do the trick.

Thanks gingejbee, I'll pass that on
