This has produced a giggle but it was a tough solve until the message appeared and we are going to have to be very careful with our checking of our final grid. What an amusing and original idea. Many thanks, Nod!

Can someone please tell me when the 'giggle' and 'amusing' bits arrive so that I can judge if it is worth continuing?
Garaman - I was nearly in tears but not from laughing.
This is very tough, particularly the clues, but worth persevering.
Wow, that was tough. If I'm to be honest, I found it more of a slog than enjoyable (though I must have enjoyed all the cold solving at some masochistic level - some of the clues were really excellent, and tricky). And I admire the construction. Thanks, Nod.
I've decided to throw in the towel, still having 8 clues to solve and also having a seemingly irreconcilable clash between 15A and 11D. Favourite clue: 4D. I thought this a brilliant crossword, but marred by the excess of cold-solving.
Contendo, do feel free to drop me an email if I can help with resolving those clues. I've just realised I haven't understood two of the wordplays, or the title, so a little more work for me to do yet!
Thanks for the offer, Olichant, but my self-imposed censor says 8 is too many for me to seek help.
qwerty i use the ipad for all the listeners i do. i log into the online version using an app called "save2pdf", i then email the pdf version to myself. I can then open that version in an app called "notetakerhd". This allows me to scibble with an ipad pen on the clues and fill in the grid (with pen not keyboard). It takes a couple of minutes to get the crossword into this format but I find the solve is better as I can rub out more easily + no transctiption issues.
Nothing much to add to this one: very clever, groan at PDM, very tough cluing and a slog at the end. I got rather distrated by the masters.
God, what a slog.
