when do i plant runner bean seeds(if thats what there called)to the sticks in the garden

The soil temperature should be at least 60 degrees F, but the warmer the better. So, if your chance for frost is passed and the soil beginns to warm, plant them soon. Like peas, keep the soil at a steady state of moisture but not soggy. They like a fine, loamy soil that's well drained so if you have heavy soil work in some composted manure or peat... Best of luck...

Assume you're in the UK? If you're living in the northern part of the country, I'd leave it another week to be sure of avoiding any frost if you're planting them outdoors. However, if you're impatient to get going, why not plant two or three beans in small pots and germinate a few on your indoor window sill? This will ensure a few of your beans start flowering and fruiting a little earlier than those you sow outside, ensuring longer succession of cropping.
