Since upgrading the Android OS to 'Lollipop', my emails won't send or receive on my Wifi but they do work on 4G. Any ideas how to fix this?

thanks

Not really but my first thought is, does the WiFi work otherwise ?

If so then the communications are fine and I'd start looking at the settings in the e-mail client app.

Also there may be a phone setting somewhere, I'd guess, that may say in some circumstances only use the phone companies data ?

Did you change e-mail client app when you upgraded ? Does any new one only ever check via 4G ?
Seems you are not alone with this problem... this may help.

Problem: Just updated my Galaxy S5 to the new software, as directed. All is fine except for email. I keep getting “Unfortunately Email has stopped.” What can I do to fix this ?

Troubleshooting:. We know for a fact that not all system updates can go perfectly as intended. Some instances of system updates can even do more harm than good, not because they are designed to do exactly that, but simply because of some complications when incompatible firmware versions or damaged apps get intertwined with the system update files. If this problem happened immediately after the update, your first troubleshooting step is to try to identify if this involves only the email app you are using. We recommend that you clear the email app’s cache and data, then reconfigure your email to the said app afterwards.

Just follow these steps on how to clear an app’s cache and data:

• Go to Home screen.
• Open the Apps list.
• Go to Settings.
• Go to Applications.
• Touch Application manager.
• Look for the app in question.
• Tap Clear data.
• Tap OK.
• Tap Clear cache.

If that will not work, perform a factory reset and reconfigure your email to see if that will make any difference.

Thanks for that - I have cleared data and cache and will test it later with my wifi!

I did that last night and I also removed my Hotmail account and re-added it but no joy. However, my Gmail emails are working, so it’s linked to my Hotmail account. When connected to 4G, my Hotmail DOES work. I really regret upgrading the OS – if I had known it would do this, I wouldn’t have bothered :-(
Also, I can’t see icons on the locked screen anymore – if I do select to see them, they show more than just the icons– I just want to see the icons like I did previously.
Unfortunately like all new Operating Systems lollipop comes with bugs. Your issue may well be one of them. All I can suggest is that you regularly check for updates.
