Help ! I'm going mad trying to pick a name for a baby that my hubby , parents , in-laws and I can all agree on. I'm due my baby mid December and although we don't know the sex of the baby , picking a girl's name was easy - the boy's name is causing chaos ! I like Callum but hubby says that there are too many and he'll be forever known as Callum G. For every other name I say , my mother finds some bizarre rhyming slang. I feel like throttling them all. Please help with some suggestions and why you think that that would be a good name for a baby. No wacky names that scream "please bully me" please. Many thanks x

What about Aroha? That means love, Or Arohanui which means lots of love... Ist something that Im sure you wont come across others with that name, unles you live in New Zealand... And its not a name people tease, at lest I dont think so
I understand your dilemma. I was sure that I was going to have a girl and had some beautiful names picked out. Well- I just found out it's a boy. I named my first one Zack- it was the only name I liked and I had to go through the entire alphabet! I am clueless with this one. I rather like the name Callum- and living in the staters- have never heard it before. It sounds like it might just be easier to find a new husband than a name that everyone can agree on. I'm leaning toward Julian, but I already saw your hubby can't stand it.
My favourite name in the whole world for a boy was Alex, but a friend had her baby a few months before me and nicked it! Am so glad she did cos now my little boy is called Max....it is easy to spell, it ends with a kiss(!) and it means "the best" or "the greatest"! It is not too unusual but there is only one other boy in his school with the name. It is not cissy and he has no problems at school with teasing. I believe Max's name gives him confidence - we have always told him we chose it because he was the best thing to happen to us!
Hi Enigma and Ponderer, did you decide on something yet? I just wanted to add my input. We came up with a boy and a girl name before my son was born, and my father absolutely hated the boy name. We stuck to our guns and kept the name anyway... and my father is wild about his grandson, and doesn't mind the name anymore. The moral is, name the child what you want, and let your mom do the adjusting. By the way, I am positive that whatever name a person has, someone will find a way to pervert it. John - well that's a toilet; lots of teasing possibilities there. You get my point. In my experience people in grade school are either picked on, or pickers on. No one can escape it. And the picked on crowd tend to be the really cool ones anyway. So don't listen to your mom about finding a name that can never ever be picked on. Someone will find a way, and your son will be stronger because of it.
Oh, and it seems like all the name suggestions you've gotten so far are from people in the UK, so here are some of the popular ones in my neck of the woods: Nico Reuben Jack or Jackson Tyler Connor Jaden or Jayden Noah Micah I've never heard of Callum before, but it's nice.

Thank you Zygma for your kind suggestions and indeed to everyone who took the time to post their helpful suggestions. Hubby dearest and I have settled on two names - one for each sex because we don't know exactly what sex the baby is. The girl's name was no problem , it was just the boy's name which no-one could seem to agree on but in the end we decided that as it is our child , to hell with what everyone (including my mum) thinks and opted for the names which we both agreed on. We decided on Lucy for a girl and if it's a boy , Matthew -which my mum hates but tough ! We haven't thought of middle names as yet but at least we have resolved the problem of deciding on our child's first name so that it won't be known as baby G in the hospital ! We may change our minds again though because when we had our youngest daughter , we had originally thought of Sophie , which I liked because I thought that it sounded regal , as in the princess royal but my mum thought that it sounded like Sofa and felt that it was old fashioned. When our daughter was handed to us , we took one look at her and both instantly felt that she did not 'look' like a Sophie and had to quickly trawl through the baby name books once more. She had such beautiful , delicate little features - like a little porcelain doll - we liked the meaning of Holly and she became our little dolly Holly lol ! So maybe we had better decide on some backup names ...... just in case ! Thank you all for your help x
I love all those names - Lucy, Sophie, and Matthew. Good luck!
