Does anyone know any of the music artists featured in city of god? I love it and would like to buy it.

Hi salamanda. I've got the City of God soundtrack - it's an excellent cd. It's one of these albums you can play all the way through; I can highly recommend it! Main songwriter is Antonio Pinto, who also did soundtracks for two other Brazilian films - Central Station and Behind the Sun.

hi there

did you also see city of men? I think they are both amazing, best thing I have seen for years. I will have to get the soundtrack as the music was very interesting.

Hi salamanda, have got the DVD of City of Men but haven't watched it yet. Have heard it's good though. If you like Brazilian music, there are 2 CDs called 'Chill Brazil' (vols 1 and 2) which are really good.

If you liked City of God, I'm pretty sure you'll like another Brazilian film called 'Man of the Year' (you can get it on amazon.co.uk). In a nutshell, it's about a guy who kills a baddie, becomes a bit of a local hero then goes a bit off the rails! Happy viewing/listening!

I will try that film. You are very lucky to have not seen city of men, i was so sad when it had ended because I enjoyed it so much-actually it was much much better than city of god, happy viewing to you too. Do you like world cinema?

Hello again, I really enjoy World Cinema. I've gone right off Hollywood films, too OTT and contrived. What about you? I'm not a massive film-watcher by any means, but if you'd like some recommendations or can recommend anything to me I'd be delighted! There was a post a wee while back that you might like.

did you get round to seeing Jean de florette, it was interesting. I recently saw motorcycle diaries which was good. I like japanese, chinese, french, russian, spanish films. I think they are filmed in a more interesting and raw way than hollywood films, which are very samey. A friend has just lent me cinema paradiso which i have yet to see. Battle royale was good. also kung fu hustle, shaolin soccer, flying daggers....I need to try to remember the names of the films I have seen. Amelie was very good too. Hope to talk to you soon.
