Firefox Problem

Happy New Year to everyone on AB.
For quite a while now I've had an intermittent problem with Firefox. For no obvious reason I get a coloured blank screen and when I try and close it a small dialogue box appears with 'confirm close' on it. Nothing happens when I press this, it just goes back to the blank screen. I appear to be unable to shut down Firefox and the only thing I can do is minimise it then use either google or IE.
Because I can't close FF I can't uninstall it as the uninstall wizard says FF must be closed to uninstall.
Any help would be appreciated - thank you.
If I don't reply for a while it's because I have lots going on here (I'm not being rude!!)

Reboot and don't start Firefox and then do the uninstall

Fitzer thank you so much - job done and it was so simple - I'm such a thickie when it comes to computers.
No probs, the old IT cliche of 'turn it off and on' is only commonplace as it is 'almost' always the first thing to try :-)

duely noted :-)
Have you downloaded and re-installed Firefox which, when it is up and running correctly, is a better Bowser than I.E or Google Chrome. ?

Hans.

no I haven't Hans - my computer seems to be running better too but that may be my imagination.
I avoid Chrome because it is too intrusive and records your every move. However, if you are happy with that knowledge Google up-dates can give you pups (Potentially unwanted programmes), I wish you all the best and suggest you adopt the old maxim.."If it aint broke then don't fix it."

Hans.

Thanks Hans - will keep an eye on things and change if necessary.
