This is probably a silly question but here goes ! I want to buy my husband a new mobile but want to keep the same number etc.He has an Orange phone at the moment (pay-as-you-go).Can I buy any phone and just change the SIM card or is it not as simple as that ??

you can do as long as its an 'orange' network one or one that is 'open to all networks'. you will find that the open network ones are dearer to buy.

It'd be cheaper to but an O2, Orange, Vodafone etc. phone and get it unlocked for �20, in a market or whatever, rather than pay an extra perhaps �100 in the shop for an already unlocked one.
