Shortest Day Nearly Over

We went out for a longish walk this morning, across fields, public footpath, and then along the river. Some of the nettles had flowers and brambles have new shoots forming, the bulbs in my garden are about 3 inches high. The weather today has been very mild, it's good to be alive and Spring is around the corner.What more could I want for Christmas ,or any other day?

Muscari are now blooming in my garden, as are primroses. Dropped cold this evening though, we're not out of it yet.

It was a beautiful day here too. We went out for a light bite to eat at lunchtime and did some food shopping. At home I dug a parsnip and selected a squash for the oven and am busy roasting them now. It was a stunning sunset this evening and a lovely moment to look ahead to spring.

I went to the nearest garden centre and poked around. It was dry here but bitterly cold and very windy. Nearly "blew the bl°°dy doors off" my car!

We have primroses and cowslips blooming in our garden but no snowdrops yet.

Mizzly damp down here, my leaf fire still going, some Christmas wrapping done, maybe a little more later. Going to make a wee pasta for supper, fresh tagliatelle with peas, lemon rind, mush, red onion and maybe a little chilli and garlic in it, a Christmas Rioja waiting.
