Is there any benefit to buying Neurofen over standard Ibuprofen? When I read the ingredients that's all Neurofen seems to be, but there are lots of different types. Do they work any better than just standard ibuprofen?

Good question, i have been wondering myself about that. I did think Neurofen was just a brand name for ibuprofen but now i am not so sure....Sorry i am no help!

Neurofen is indeed the brand name for ibuprofen. They are identical.
oh, sorry, crossed with estie there
I know this is your question msemma, but cheers estie and jno for confirming what i thought, kinda surprised myself there! :-)
I find the liquid capsules work well but are rather expensive.
As above - same stuff - 37p for 'own brand', 1.40 for branded. You decide where to spend your money....

Also, Nurofen 'extra' has caffeine in it as well as ibuprofen, for no good reason. Lidl do 32 ibuprofen for 16p.
Hi bella the caffeine helps the drug work quicker, as do gel capsules as they are broken down quicker. The overall pain relief is no different in the end so stick with the cheapies.
Apart from Nurofen, are there any other brands which do the liquid type capsules?
Tesco do their own brand liquid ibuprofen capsules - in packs of 16 200mg at 1.25.

I'm sure other major supermarkets and Boots the chemist do similar.
