The Germans make good pretzels (the breaded pretzels) not the small snack pretzels. Especially when they use rock salt to season them with.
lidl do them over here as well, they're lovely
Retrochic: Wetzels pretzels I like it.
Dizmo you are making me hungry! Soft pretzels fresh out of the oven sprinkled with rock salt.....oh yes!
I wish I could make them, I've tried time and time again but I just don't have the talent for it. I like the snack ones and I can quite easily munch through an entire bag in one sitting but just thinking about the big, doughy, brown glazed, rock salted pretzel I don't think I'd be satisfied by the light, crunchy, salty snack right now.

Sounds as if the big soft pretzels are worth investigating, I think I'll have to make them myself as the only pretzels available hereabouts are the inedible variety, the knotted twiglet variety.
jom, do you have an m&s, asda or lidl near you?
mccfluff: not all stores sell them :( I went to my nearest Asda (20 miles away) and they don't sell them - Gutted.com
bummer. must admit its a bit hit or miss here whether they've baked them or not, its always a good day when they have. they're my sunday morning after gym treat
Of course, I love them!

mcfluff, I did have one until a few months ago when it was demolished to make way for a bigger one. In what part of the emporium do pretzels reside? I have never noticed them pre demolition....but then I wasn't looking for them.
