A volunteer at the Tower of London has been suspended for joking about stealing a poppy and has even received death threats!

Where has this mad obsession with war, death and dying come from? Is it all beyond a joke?

dt, this thread could have easily been ignored,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
But it wasn't.....

Back to thinking about dinner, talking of smoked salmon.

Here in Yorkshire tea/char used to come in a pint pot, strong enough to stand a spoon up in it. I've found another more interesting char?????y in a bottle these days.

Have we seen him off yet?
'' but it wasn't '' indeed :(
You haven't ignored it twice now, anne.
An interesting diversion from the original thread though. Looking forward to my poppy arriving.
why would I ignore it ? I read the article,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Jude, not sure how old you are. I would ask you to understand that some readers could find your post offensive. For those who have lost someone in military service, theirs is not an obsession but a lifetime's debt of honour, gratitude and remembrance. People have given their life so you and I can post as we wish in a freer society. Enjoy your evening and life.
I'd have ignored if it wasn't in CB, Anne...and the op is almost a repeat of Jude's last little poppy rant....so there was little point in giving a serious answer....which he could have had elsewhere.....

Longing to see my Poppy too.....and thinking about who it represents...x
Hear hear Gness!
Gness as you know my poppy arrived yesterday still trying to find a ready made glass box to put it in proving difficult because of the size - will let you know if I find anything
Thanks, Margo......x
The Poppies round the tower stood wonderful and tall
Reminding us of loved ones who died to save us all
Myself I feel so humble
That I am here and free
To see and witness
What is there for all to see

The fact that some are blasé
Means not a jot to me,
I witness those that gave their all
So ALL of us are free

The many wars that have been
That happened in the past
Let's try and make our minds up
We hope they'll be the last.

Ron...thank you....humble is what I felt when I saw them......and I know by the smiles and tears that others felt exactly the same...x
Wonderful whiskeryron. Say it all. Thanks
