It was the Tories that gave us the first woman Prime Minister, now they have the first man of Asian heritage to hold a Cabinet post in Britain, and could possibly be the first party to make him the first Asian Prime Minister.

So could it be the party who are always issuing out the racist and sexist labels (that being Labour) who are themselves a little backward in their equality quests?

Holding a cabinet position does not mean he is being fast tracked for Prime Minister.

Eg. Keith Vaz.

I hope he does become Prime Minister. Labour couldn't use the White Toff card any more. He's a very talented man and I have great respect for him.
he believes immigrants are natural Tories. ABers believe they're Labour voters, smuggled into the country by Blair to boost the Labour constituency. I wonder who's right?

(If he's right the Mail will have to perform a fast U-turn on the subject of immigration, won't they?)
Wel labour are do as I say not has I do whilst also casting assertions around.

I guess being in the cabinet he srands same cgace as others, lets see how he oerfirms there.
Might as well be as I am not interested in the post any more.
He would be wasted as PM but Chancellor....yes, he has my vote ;)
Keyplus, why is that?
I don't think we are ready for an Asian PM, nor will we be for a long time. There is too much anti muslim feelings at the moment and probably for a long time to come looking at the present situation.

Mr Sajid Javid was not smuggled into this country, he is of British-Pakistani descent and born in England, his religion is entered down as 'None' in wikipedia.

How did you manage that, are you the ED in disguise or perhaps a mod?

Chuka Umunna (Nigerian father) and Sadiq Khan (Pakistani parents) are both in the Shadow Cabinet so Labour are hardly lagging are they?
The Tories also managed to give us Britain's first gay PM, so perhaps AOG is correct in asserting the Conservative party's equal opportunities credentials.

I am missing something here. I thought T.B. was Labour!!
Why not - he seems like a good bloke.
boxy, they all seem like 'good blokes' until they get into power.
