Unlikely. The charge and how quickly you get your money will depend on your Bank and whether they are prepared to negotiate it or send for collection.
I've never heard of free acceptance of any foreign money, whether it's cash or cheque. They'd charge a conversion rate if not a handling charge, too.
We got round this by using the cheque to open a bank account with Lloyds, and the withdrew most of the money.
Surely Lloyds will have charged you (even if only by doctoring the exchange rate) to deposit that cheque?
The best rates I could find recently in England to change pounds into Euros was the much maligned 'Money Shop'. I don't know if they would accept a Euro cheque, but you could try. If it's a large sum you should ask around anyway, as even a small percentage difference can make a substantial difference.
