There are probably more reliable links on the internet but this one popped up on my Facebook and Twitter feeds
It seems the scumbags have executed the British hostage David Haines.

No matter what all our own opinions are, that is including naomi, the west will have to put boots on the ground eventually, there is no other option.
I give up.

/// No we can't Anoltheoldgit,. ///

Oh a compulsive argumentative eh?

/// Firstly I have not used rhetoric, or emotional blackmail as you have. ///

The use of rhetoric is complimentary, so thanks for that, but 'emotional blackmail' where have I used that?

/// Secondly, the troops on the ground already have better standards than yours and I would rather we kept it that way. ///

And you know that for certain do you? You don't even know what my standards are, and I don't know about you, but I have also donned those 'Boots' in the distant past, so I can at least speak from experience.

Can You?

// Cameron is taking the situation seriously. When the British Hostage is savagely murdered, Cameron will send IS a good telling off. //

Yep.
You set your standards here Anotheoldgit.

//But if we do finely get "feet on the ground" so as to sort out these overseas murderous scum, we should go in with all barrels blazing, forget the "Geneva Convention", forget the "Rules of Engagement" and release the "tied arms" from behind our soldier's backs.

And if that makes us no better than them, so be it, who cares?//
// I have also donned those 'Boots' in the distant past, so I can at least speak from experience. //

You continue your bogus war record. You were conscripted into National Service, you did not volunteer. You saw no combat because WWII had finished. Therefore your 'experience' is very limited and of no interest here.
there was plenty of combat for british troops after ww2.

On this particular issue maybe.

/// You continue your bogus war record. You were conscripted into National Service, you did not volunteer. You saw no combat because WWII had finished. Therefore your 'experience' is very limited and of no interest here. ///

I have not continued with any bogus war record, as you have incorrectly put, I have only said "I have also donned those 'Boots' in the distant past", meaning military boots, which is a perfectly true statement.

And regarding my service past you know nothing about it, only that I served in the RAF. (also true) but in what capacity, or for how long, you know nothing about, and I will not be drawn into telling you by you or anyone else on here

And as Svejk pointed out to you even after WW2 there were plenty of conflicts that Britain were involved in.

Carry out your usual Google searchers and you may educate yourself further on this issue.
//I served in the RAF. (also true) but in what capacity, or for how long, you know nothing about, and I will not be drawn into telling you by you or anyone else on here //

So if your boots were on the ground, you must have done very little flying.

There are and always have been jobs in all branches of our forces that never see combat. Clerical and catering are two that come immediately to mind.
Air strikes cause massive collateral damage (civilian deaths) which ISIL use as fuel in their recruitment drives.
---------------
Can't say I agree with that assessment in this case. All I've seen so far have been precision drone strikes on ISIS/ISIL. If there's been collateral damage we'd have heard about it by now.
As they sweep in, anyone not 'with' them has fled, so anyone remaining with them must be sympathetic to their cause. That may seem a harsh viewpoint but it's one that must be taken if we are to rout them.
Civilian deaths and collateral damage will be kept to the bare minimum IMHO.
Regrettable though they would be if we are to destroy ISIS/ISIL I can only provide the crudest analogy:
If you're gonna make an omelette you've gotta be prepared to break a few eggs.

Everyone has to keep their feet firmly on the ground at times.
Indeed they do. At times.
Chill, more than drone strikes:
In total, the strikes destroyed an ISIL mortar emplacement and an ISIL armed vehicle. All aircraft exited the strike areas safely.

Exactly AOG, ground shelling is a waste of time, that's why the coalition need to exploit the air superiority in order to carry out precision strikes.
Indigenous forces can do whatever they like without recourse or criticism, we need to at least look to be carrying out precise co-ordinated missile strikes, not willy-nilly artillery bombardment.
