There are probably more reliable links on the internet but this one popped up on my Facebook and Twitter feeds
It seems the scumbags have executed the British hostage David Haines.

This isn't a link to the video itself by the way, i'm not that sick in the head!
If that is true how dreadful.
no , I know you would not do that daffy, its just seeing a picture of the poor man kneeling makes me feel nauseated.

Dreadful news that only strengthens the resolve to see the vermin eradicated with extreme prejudice.
It is true I'm afraid. Awful.

They have not executed him. Execution is lawful. They have murdered him.
Question Author
Execution is not always lawful, but I do see your point.
It is murder and I wish I knew what the solution was to the problems we are having with IS, my heart says we should carpet bomb them but my head says that makes me as bad as them.
What is the solution, you cannot negotiate with these murderers.
US air strikes, kurdish fighters and ground troops have helped to halt the progress of IS but this is going to take a big international effort to increase their terrorist preventative measures.

Ive said before that despite signing up to a G8 commitment not to pay ransoms some countries do it. Britain and the US will not do so and regrettably the outlook for hostages is very bleak.
If any one is compelled to wonder what foreign language captions say

this one says: I wanna say to David Cameron...

someone may be able to fill in the last bit

Poor fella - RIP
no mess no blood !
here - just a speech by the fella in black

So so terrible. the look on his face made my tears just roll down. they are sick people who will be punished one way or another for this evil evil act.
Are these videos designed to frighten aid workers more than anything else? You couldn't imagine potential recruits to the fight looking at the butchering of a fellow human being and thinking, 'I want to go and do that'.
I am not sure how anyone can say we should just do nothing because we had a bad time in Afghanistan and Iraq. The IS threat is totally different.

Immediate action is needed by both US and British troops on the ground, to stop them. We cannot and should not rely on Kurdish soldiers to do the hard work. They are not a professional army, and they do not have the technical advantages in weaponry yhat we have.

IS are not a huge army. They ate just a few thousand. We need to sort them out once and for all, quickly and decisively. The problem is that Obama has had a terrible second term and is frightened. And Cameron and Hague totally clueless. People criticise Blair for taking us into Iraq, and rightly so, but Cameron's failure to tackle IS will go down as a far worse blunder.
It has got to be a concerted and concentrated effort of combined air strikes and a large amount of Special Forces(even up to brigade strength of combined US/UK/Australia SF if necessary), the use of which don't necessarily constitute a 'boots on the ground' operation per se.

No leader in the coalition will provide troops for a ground offensive, we just have to cajole and encourage indigenous armed forces to do their bit, something they've not always been capable of or willing to.
They are making inroads and have had some limited success, it just needs to maintain and subsequently gather momentum with the resources I've mentioned.
//we just have to cajole and encourage indigenous armed forces to do their bit, something they've not always been capable of or willing to. //

That's not going to happen. Soldiers faced with the arrival of ISIS laid down their weapons and fled. The religious fervour of the aggressor is paramount and unfortunately that fervour, albeit perhaps not so aggressively, is shared by a great many Iraqis (as well as others) who will not oppose it. If the free world doesn’t act decisively and urgently now to eradicate this monstrous carbuncle once and for all, it will pay the price, because the creeping, malevolent cancer that is radical Islam will never abate and sooner or later, like it or not, in our own interests our positive involvement will be unavoidable.

As I read that report, a few simple words from the script of the musical ‘West Side Story’ ran through my head. “You’re making this world rotten” – and they are.
To be fair though naomi they have counter attacked in some areas and have re-taken the odd key town along with the dam.
I've no doubt that when pressed some will do battle with the same fervour as ISIS, they just need the resources and belief.
The mindset required is one of almost vicious and spiteful retribution, something the Coalition have not been allowed to display in previous conflicts in the ME.
