back to the hive to rest. most flowers close up during the night, so it is less profitable to work.
Some go to the pub, some sit in the hive with the missus.
not all bees have hives. solitary bees kip in amonst your plants or in leaf or twig litter lying around, especially in spring and autumn when the nights are cold. I had one huge bumblebee who used my greenhouse as a hotel all one summer. I used to leave tiny blobs of honey out for him and watched him uncurl his tongue and tuck in, its fascinating.
