This is only a problem for Salmond if you think UKIP will be effective in campaigning for the NO side.
Scotland has had an extreme nationalist party (which is what UKIP are) for years, so another one more doesn't matter much.
There appears to be a pro-independence rent a mob who disrupt such rallies, so there is potential for some fistiecuffs.

Actually, I haver been giving this another long think, and its my opinion now that the NO campaign has been dealt a cruel blow !
UKIP are not an extremist Nationalist party, that would describe the likes of the EDL.

Typical of you to resort to name calling though I guess.

Micky, to answer your question, I doubt Farage will have much clout one way or another in Scotland. Curious how he wants Scotland to remain part of the UK.

YMB...Whatever I and others think about UKIP, they do pride themselves on their "Britishness", so I am not surprised at all that they should want Scotland to remain in the UK. But it does muddy the waters somewhat.

I seem to remember that the last time Farage was north of the border, he was met with some considerable hostility and was trapped in a Pub. But that might have been somewhere else....my memory isn't terribly strong here.
Before being shepherded away by Scottish Police Nigel Farage was trapped in the Cannons Gait pub in Edinburgh. This was in May last year.
I think this probably helps Alex doesn't it?
Question Author
Thanks Grumpy...I thought so.

Say what you like about Farage, and, God knows, I have done, in spades but he does appear to have some cojones ! Hope I have spelt that right ...Sqad will let me know if I haven't !
Question Author
TTT...I think it could work both ways. The Scots hate being lectured by poncy Englishmen, that's for sure. But Farage might just remind them how awful jumped-up little politicians can be !
YMB,

The EDL are not a political party. They do not have candidates in national and local elections.

They are a protest group.

// Curious how he wants Scotland to remain part of the UK. //

Not at all. He beleives in the United Kingdom and Britain. What is more curious is that you, Tora and the other AB right wingers, do not.
Question Author
Gromit...please don't be too nasty to TTT. He may be right-wing and he that frightening avatar but he quite nice really !
