Couldn't believe it. Two came knocking on my door from the Red Cross. They were really forceful wanting my bank details. Telling me how generous my neighbours had been. When I said I don't give my bank details to anyone they were not happy. I offered a donation but they said they were not allowed to take anything.

The fact that they wouldn't take money suggests they were genuine, Caran. But like anyone selling anything, if you're not interested, just say no and shut the door.
Learnt something today....never heard the word "chugger" before.
If they persist, inform the police, they are harassing you. check in the D.Mirrror today ( No Link) see how much the likes of Oxfam pay out to call centres! never again will I give to Charity.
gingejbee, same here, very rarely see them anyway.

When I saw "Chuggers Again" I thought it was some kind of local term for a crawling insect pest! rather than an everyday human grovelling pest!
RATTER: glad it's not just me! People were using it as if it was an everyday word.
Ummmm said '' Phone the police? Really???
People never cease to amaze me.....
''Shut the door. Why waste police time?

Because Ummmmm the next persons door they knock on might just be an frail old lady or other vulnerable person who gets bullied into giving money or bank details . Earler this month a neighbour aged 80 got bullied into giving a man in a van £80 for five small fillets of 'fresh' fish. I rang the Police -they were very grateful as this lot had been selling fish door to door targeting vulnerable people - they caught them.
